By the ancient ring fort of Sandby Borg, archaeologists have made several spectacular finds: rich jewellery hoards consisting of brooches, beads and bells. Many of the beads originate from the Roman area around the Mediterranean. In 2011-2013, a few small archaeological investigations were carried out of the fort. Parts of skeletons from at least ten unburied people were discovered in several different places in the fort, especially near the treasure hoards.
