The world heritage on southern Öland in large international project

In cooperation with other world heritages in the south Baltic region, the world heritage The agricultural landscape of southern Öland, will participate in a three year project to develop strategies and action plans for sustainable tourism. One will also develop products and services in order to enhance the visitors’ experiences of the unique world heritage, together with local businesses. The naval city of Karlskrona is lead partner in the project and other partners are the agricultural landscape of southern Öland, Curonian spit in Lithuania, Malbork castle in Poland, EUCC Baltic network and the German organization for sustainable coastal landscape. The project has also a number of associated partners; Naval museum, Blekinge archipelago biosphere reserve area, County administrative board in Kalmar and the National property board of Sweden.
At a meeting on May 17th, The monitoring committee of the Interreg South Baltic programme decided to grant the project “DUNC – Development of UNESCO Natural and Cultural assets” approximately € 1 700 000 where of about € 300 000 will benefit Southern Öland.
